Quotes

The Great Society is a place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind and to enlarge his talents. It is a place where leisure is a welcome chance to build and reflect, not a feared cause of boredom and restlessness. It is a place where the city of man serves not only the needs of the body and the demands of commerce but the desire for beauty and the hunger for community. - from the Great Society Speech by Lyndon B. Johnson May 22, 1964

The legacy I want to leave is a child-care system that says no kid is going to be left alone or left unsafe. - Marian Wright Edelman

  1. The statement by Lyndon Johnson that you posted has a very profound statement when he says, "It is a place where leisure is a welcome chance to build and reflect, not a feared cause of boredom and restlessness." I related that comment to play in school and how some parents have concerns about that but that is the way that children learn and they are not bored or restless but they are curious about the world around them and that is how they discover the world.

  2. I like the quote from Marian Wright Edelman. Children should feel safe in our care. Sometimes a childs home life is not very welcoming so when they come to school it is their sanctuary.
