Research Around the World

What are some of the current international research topics? For my research around the world, I chose the European Early Childhood Education Research Association. The EECERA encourages the exploration of new paradigms, methodologies, concepts and applications in the ever-changing context of early childhood studies. Its reach and interest is resolutely international and, whilst wanting to identify with Europe’s pluralist and diverse cultures, it is open to learn of, and to share in, the equally rich early childhood traditions and concepts of the World (http://www.eecera.org/journal/).

What surprising facts/insights/new ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international early childhood website? I was surprise to learn that EECERA Annual Conference is the largest and most significant early years' research conference in Europe, regularly attracting more than 600 researcher delegates from all over the world. This website had quite a few surprising facts/insights and new ideas about early childhood however, I managed to select what I found to be the most interesting. The Journal of the Association (EECERJ) is the only European early childhood journal cited in the prestigious Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). The EECERJ, the Journal of EECERA, is one of the most prestigious early childhood journals in the world. It is one of only four early years journals indexed by the Institute for Scientific Information (http://www.eecera.org/journal/)

What other noteworthy information did you find on this website? I would have say the only other noteworthy information I found was the many benefits and activities that EECERA members are entitled to. I also thought it was worth noting that their partners and link page is not long, it only contains one link (The Korea Institute of Child Care and Education) and the criteria to be a partner.EECERA only seeks like-minded organizations, institutions and research centers to offer mutual support and information sharing. I like the fact that EECERA does not automatically agree to reciprocal links arrangements, and that’s because the Board of Trustees wants to ensure that such links and partners have similar aims and values and has formulated the following criteria (http://www.eecera.org/journal/).

I enjoyed reading your post about the European website that you explored. I was not aware of the annual conference, but it sounds amazing. That would be something fun and interesting to be able to go to some day. Thanks for sharing!

Personal Childhood Web

Mom – There is so much to say. She did the one thing that I am so grateful for; she gave birth to me. She is the mom that chose me. She nurtured me, took care of me; I was and still am her angel. My mom made sure I had the best and she stood by my side during by darkest hour (when I was hospitalized). She has taught me about morals and values. My mother is still teaching me every day. She is mom.

Dad - My dad and I were buddies. I was daddy’s girl. I could get anything I wanted from my dad at any time. He was a great dad. He taught me all about morals and values. He worked hard to make sure that we had plenty. My dad and mom were great parents to my two brothers and me. My father passed away June 2001. I miss my dad.

Johnny - My big brother. Johnny has been my best buddy since I can remember. He was away and still there for me. He never would let anyone say anything bad to me and he was always ready to beat up anybody that messed with his baby sister. He this day is still teaching me about life and especially about adjusting to these changes in my life. I know he loves me more than anything. He was there along with my mom when I was sick. He did not work for two weeks, no pay, and has a family too, but chose to stay with me. I was told while I was in ICU he told the doctor not to give me a medicine that the doctors wanted to give me. He said to them “she is in there. I know it. Don’t give it to her. (I was out for 12 days) He is a nurse, so he knew everything they were doing. He is the man.

Mrs. Evelyn Olds, neighbor - Mrs. Olds was the sweetest woman I knew. My mom had to be to work at 6:00a.m. during the week, so she asked Mrs. Olds to check on me and my brothers on own way to school. There were days she would have to redo my hair or change my clothes because my brothers and I had been playing and it looked like I had just got up from bed. I don’t think she ever told my mom. I love her and the wisdom that she would give me as I got older. She always told me to remember what my parents have taught me, to respect others and sometimes it’s good to just listen. She passed away a few years ago. I know God has giving her rest in her soul. I really miss her.

My favorite child book

KidsCooking A Very Slightly Messy Manual by the editors of Klutz Press

I love this book because it let the children get a hands on feel. The book has what we all like to do at some point during the day and that is EAT.

The childen are able to fix their snack or even lunch. The book is well illustrated. The recipes are easy to follow. This activity is helping the children learn so many different things. I like it because it help to get the parent and child together, doing things that some parents may take for grant. When a parent ask for a copy of a recipe or how they can buy the book, to me that is PRICELESS.
