Examining Codes of Ethics
My three ideals from NAEYC Code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment that are meaningful to me, and how they are a significance part of my professional career.
My three ideals from NAEYC Code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment that are meaningful to me, and how they are a significance part of my professional career.
Ideals
I-1.1—To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
This is an important because by not keeping myself updated, how can I teach to others about early childhood when I am not current with the laws and policies that are constantly changing.
I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity and their contributions.
. Our children need to be free to play without any potential hazardous items or unsafe materials (broken bikes, swings, branches from trees in sandbox) that could hurt them. If our setting are not healthy and safe friendly our children cannot reach their own goals of development.
I-1.8—To support the right of each child to play and learn in an inclusive environment that meets the needs of children with and without disabilities.
All children should be able to have fun and enjoy all parts of play, whether it be housekeeping or blocks, transportation, or art, each center should be setup to accommodates the child and their needs. It is to me just one more oath that I need to make sure I follow.
Code of Ethics of the Division for Early Childhood (DEC)
Ethical Practice in Research
We shall use research designs and analyses in an appropriate manner by providing a clear rationale for each. We shall provide enough information about the methodologies we use so that others can replicate the work.
I think that this is important to me for without research, where would we be. It is important to make sure that how the information was obtain is used for others to work with it also.

All of the ideals you stated are so vital to our growth as educators and to the development of the programs that we serve in. Maintaining a safe environment, keeping ourselves informed, and including all children in our programs are all so important and ideals to be valued and supported by educators everywhere. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI select the Practice of Research and is really nice that we share the same thought. I think that this is important to engage the questions we are going to be working with, in the classroom and all the information related to the field!
