My early childhood
research topic is Obesity in our children. I want to study the age group of
birth – five year olds. I chose this topic because I feel we need to make
families aware of what can happen, if our children do not start eating right and
exercising. They can have many medical issues in their later years that can
slow them down right at the peak of their lives. I know this because I have
experience this all my life.
My parents did all
the right things to keep me from becoming overweight. I was not denied food, I would follow (my father who loved to eat)him
to the kitchen and say “GIVE ME SOME” of whatever he was eating. I was always
reminded by family members that I was fat, (that is what it was call back then). It
hurt so bad and I did not have anyone to turn to so I turn to food and that is
how I became the chubby girl during my adolescent years. The things that
children would say made it much harder.
I
want the children to enjoy their lives and not have to be on medication at such
an early age. They are so close to having juvenile diabetes, high blood
pressure, heart disease, breathing problems like COPD, etc. These are the
things that should not be happening to a 5 or 6 year old.
My
search was easy. I used Google scholar for my search engine. The results were
great, but I have a hard time picking out which articles to use. I ask you if
you know a way for me to pick out the articles I need after doing a search, without
spending a lot of time trying to pick the ones to use.
The
chart comes with new knowledge or a n enhancement to what I already know. I
received both. I learn some new terms that I have not seen before or remember,
and on researching it reminded me of the procedures in which I must follow.
Please share any resources that you have in which it will be helpful to me, as I
will do the same.
